Our
legacy to our children: A TB free world
"One third
of the world´s population is infected
with the tuberculosis bacilli. "
TB has become a bigger problem than AIDS.
Every year between 2 to 3 million people
die of TB. But unlike AIDS, TB is curable.
The biggest cause of death due to TB is
"ignorance".
It is in our individual powers to help
eradicate this menace. It is for us to
take up the fight to eradicate this disease
and leave behind a TB Free world for our
children.
Almost everyone who is infected with
the tuberculosis bacilli can be cured
if diagnosed in time and if the treatment
as prescribed is completed.
Improper or delayed diagnosis, non-availability
of proper drugs, inability to afford treatment,
lethargy in completing the full treatment
are the causes of this disease assuming
lethal proportion.
TB is contagious and the reason for the
rapid spread of TB ( a third of the world's
population is infected) is ignorance and
delayed diagnosis.
Becoming aware and spreading awareness
of the causes, symptoms and treatment
of this disease is the first and most
important step in halting the spread of
this disease.
The second step is to ensure that the
right treatment at the right time is given
to those affected by the bacilli.
The war against TB is bigger than the
war on the borders. It is the silent killer
which knows no borders.
Our children deserve
a better world - ensuring a TB free world
should be the legacy that we leave behind.
Come! Lets fight
this enemy together!
