1. Will my family and friends catch TB from me?
Be sure they don't…take your medicine when you're supposed to. They'll be safe if you take your pills and get your checkups. The pills keep TB from spreading. TB is most catching before it is found. Before you start taking pills.

2. Has anyone caught TB from me in the past?
Possibly, if someone has lived close to you for a long time…maybe in the same house…or has worked closely with you. These people should have tuberculin skin test. They could have caught the germs without becoming sick. If they have, there are pills for them too. People who saw you only once in a while seldom have to worry.

3. What about my job?
Most TB patients can keep on with their same jobs.

4. What if my boss is afraid for me to come back to work?
Your doctor, health department, or lung association can help by talking with your boss. When you go back to work, you will not give anyone TB…if you keep on taking your medicine.

5. What about things like masks and dishes?

The pills make your TB non infectious. Masks are not needed. Like everyone, you do want to cover your coughs and sneezes with paper tissues. There's no need to handle your dishes differently from any one else.

Once you start taking your pills…
and keep on taking them… you'll be safe.
So will everyone else
