You
caught it by breathing TB germs into your lungs.
The germs were coughed or sneezed into the air by
someone whose TB was catching. Probably it was someone
you spent a lot of time with. Maybe someone in your
family or a friend.
2. When did
I catch it?
It
could have happened lately, or it could have been
years ago. People often have TB germs in their body
for a long time without being sick.

is a disease in which germs attack various parts
of the body, most often the lungs. Unless the germs
are stopped, the disease may become worse. If it
grows worse, it starts to destroy the affected parts.

be cured?
Yes!
Almost all TB can be cured.
5. Who gets
TB?
Anybody.
Rich or poor. Young or old, men, women or children.
Some people are at especially high risk for TB.
Including the foreign born, racial/ethnic minorities,
persons infected with the AIDS (HIV) virus. Drug
or alcohol abusers, residents of correctional facilities,
and socio-economically deprived persons. The
TB germ can be passed to anyone.
